Brando, a new two-part documentary, premieres tonight and tomorrow on Turner Classic Movies. The film mixes never-before-seen footage and interviews with family, childhood friends and Hollywood co-workers. When: Tuesday, 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.; Wednesday, same times.
Time included Brando in the magazine's Most Important People of the Century edition in 1998: "His performance as Stanley Kowalski, later repeated on film, provided one of our age's emblematic images, the defining portrait of mass man — shrewd, vulgar, ignorant, a rapacious threat to all that is gentle and civilized in our culture."
