Gap realizes what's missing. (Hint: more gays)

San Francisco's troubled Gap chain has hired cute gay designer Todd Oldham (left) as design creative director for its discount Old Navy division. Oldham, who joins the company Oct. 1, also plans to develop a line of merchandise to be sold under the Todd Oldham label, exclusively at Old Navy. "The move is a shift in strategy for the brand, which currently sells all its clothing for adults and children under its own name," the Wall Street Journal says. How does Oldham spend a typical day? "I design and make things,'' he told New York magazine in this Q&A. [Photo: New York]
