Oedipal Olympia?

I'm thinking of Olympia Dukakis today, her 76th birthday. Even more than Laura Linney's Mary Ann, it was Dukakis' Anna Madrigal in Tales of the City who inspired my move to San Francisco seven years ago.

In many ways, Madrigal is like my mother -- minus the pot. Come to think of it, Madrigal is a lot like Sparky, too.
