Moss grabs top mag honors in 'staggering' upset

I love New York -- the city and the magazine. So I was delighted to read that uber-gay editor Adam Moss led New York to a general excellence award at the American Society of Magazine Editors' annual back-patting fest last night. His win was a "staggering upset," New York Post says. Complete winners here. Moss Q&A here. Snarky Gawker comments here and here. Pictured (left): New York's Sept. 25 issue featuring former New Jersey guv James McGreevey. Meanwhile, gay publisher (and former San Franciscan) Jann Wenner's RollingStone also pulled in a general excellence award, in the one-million to two-million circulation category. FOOTNOTED: I met Moss years ago when I wrote a story about being gay in the Ivy League for a now-defunct RollingStone spinoff where he got his start. Moss looked hot padding around the mag's office in white socks.
